SAMBA II SARS-CoV-2 Test

The SAMBA II SARS-CoV-2 Test (P/N 8500 and 8500V) is designed to detect the presence of the novel coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, in nose and throat swab samples, nasal or nasopharyngeal swabs run on the SAMBA II instrument.

The test specifically amplifies and detects two regions of the SARS-CoV-2 genome in the ORF1ab (region 1) and ORF8 (region 2), reported as two distinct lines on the test strip. A third line on the test strip, the internal control, is present to control for false negatives caused by instrument/reagent problems or inhibition.

  • Kit contains all the reagents and disposables required to perform a test
  • Site must provide just a swab to collect a throat/nose swab, which is placed in the SAMBA Respiratory Specimen buffer to inactivate the virus
  • Isothermal amplification and patented lateral flow detection
  • Detects two specific regions of SARS-CoV-2 (ORF1ab and ORF8)
  • Analytical sensitivity of 200 cp/ml
  • Detects variants of concern and continues to meet specifications for variants under investigation and monitoring from in silico analysis
  • Specific, i.e. non-reactive, against other Coronaviruses, including hCoV-NI63, hCoV-229E, hCoV-OC43, MERS and SARS
  • Test results automatically read and interpreted by the SAMBA II instrument
  • Results can be stored in the tablet, printed, sent via SMS or transferred electronically
  • Kit can be shipped and stored at room temperature (2-30oC for 12 months)
