SAMBA II SARS-CoV-2 Test

The SAMBA II Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 Test system (P/N 8500) is designed to specifically detect the presence of the novel coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, in nose and throat swab samples run on the SAMBA II instrument.

The test specifically amplifies and detects two regions of the SARS-CoV-2 genome in the ORF1ab (region 1) and nucleoprotein (region 2), reported as two distinct lines on the test strip. A third line on the test strip, the internal control, is present to control for false negatives caused by instrument/reagent problems or inhibition.

Key features and performance
  • Kit contains all the reagents and disposables required to perform a test
  • Site must provide just a swab to collect a throat/nose swab, which is placed in the SAMBA SCoV buffer to inactivate the virus.
  • Isothermal amplification and patented lateral flow detection
  • Detects two specific regions of SARS-CoV-2 (Orf1ab and N)
  • Analytical sensitivity of 250 cp/ml
  • Specific against other Coronaviruses, including hCoV-NI63, hCoV-229E, hCoV-OC43, MERS and SARS
  • 98.7% sensitivity and 100% specificity in 102 clinical samples compared to Public Health England (PHE) testing
  • Test results automatically read and interpreted by the SAMBA II instrument
  • Results can be stored in the tablet, printed, sent via SMS or transferred electronically
  • Kit can be shipped and stored at room temperature (2-37 oC for 6 months)
